Reiki

I did a Reiki session two days ago. It was interesting, and relaxing. She knows nothing about me other than the obvious but during the session she said she could sense that I kept a journal but had stopped. She told me I needed to start. She also said the same thing about singing. She said a few other things as well, that were strange/insightful. I don't know that I will blog for my journal long-term, but for now that's what I'm going to do. At least until I get around to buying a journal.

So I don't know a lot about Reiki, but basically she moved my energy around and got rid of any bad energy. She used her hands, an aura spray, and a few different tuning forks. Strange, I know, but I LOVE things that are out there. I find them fun and interesting. I didn't notice it help my health at all, where some other strange things I've been trying lately have, so I'm not sure if I'll continue, but I might give it another shot. Anything relaxing I am up for!

Rejuvelac

Right now I'm doing a Candida Cleanse and to supplement it (and after talking to my very knowlegeable Aunt about all things healthy) I decided to try making Rejuvelac.  After sprouting and soaking wheat grains for a few days you save the juice and drink it.  It's very high in probiotics which is amazing because probiotic supplements are impossible for your body to absorb.

After one glass of it I could tell it was doing it's work on me.  It's some pretty amazing stuff.

It's also the GROSSEST THING I HAVE EVER DIGESTED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!!

I CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE THE TASTE LET ALONE THE AFTER TASTE!!!!!

IF YOU WANT TO MAKE SOMEONE PUKE (IT'D MAKE A GREAT HALLOWEEN JOKE) JUST LET ME KNOW!!!  I'LL SEND YOU THE RECIPE!  :)

The Crooked Carrot Farm

I love these little finds in this strip-mall of a valley. Finds like The Good Apple, Save Your Dairy, or just finding out your cousin owns a cow (more like 8). My latest find, thanks to Jennifer, is The Crooked Carrot Farm. This guy never uses any pesticides and just pulls the weeds if need be. Mostly he just lets them grow wild. Then he throws these vegetables in this fabulous building and leaves a box for your cash or checks. Nothing better than fresh carrots!

Sunny

Clark and I wanted to grow some of our own vegetables but figured that would have to wait until we lived in a house. We read in the Ensign a quote from Pres. Kimball and he said that living in an apartment wasn't an excuse and that most vegetables can be potted. When Sunny heard what we were doing she gave us a great, cheap idea. Clark made these carts which are cheaper than pots and the best thing about it is we can move them!

Conversion Story

I am so excited right now! I have my first convert!
Ever since Heather converted me to the WAPF diet I have been passing out a video to everyone, including 3 different doctors.
Well, 4-5 months ago I gave a video to this student at work and this morning she finally watched it, is buying the cookbook,
and changing her diet
as well as the diet of all 6 of her children
(she was already health conscious to begin with).
I'm REALLY excited and I'm so happy that I have change the lives of 8 people! It's been a good day!

OUT SICK

I haven't gotten around to blogging since the wedding, although I do have lots of pictures to blog about, apt., wedding, etc. I've been a little preoccupied. Here's what happened. Friday night Clark gets a terrible tooth ache. REALLY bad one.
Luckily Mom & Dad had some strong pain killers lying around, although it barely lessened the pain. By Saturday his face was a balloon! Sunday, he was going crazy with pain, unable to sleep, unable to eat, ear infection, head ache, fever, unable to talk, and choking on his own saliva if he tried. Monday morning first thing we go to a dentist and the verdict? Nope, not a bad cavity. He has an infection in his wisdom tooth. Apparently it's a serious thing and could be deadly. Good thing it wasn't a 3 day weekend! This is what he looked like after 3 days of antibiotics! (3 weeks later, swelling down still can't open mouth fully...)
Pretty fat. As soon as the swelling is down he gets his wisdom teeth pulled and then he'll get another fat face. You can't get stretch marks on your cheeks, can you?

Food For Thought

Have you ever wondered why home made ice cream freezes and isn't very good left over? Have you ever wondered why store bought ice cream comes out in perfect scoops? Today I learned that one ingredient in ice cream is diethylglycol aka antifreeze. My dad immediately said it wasn't true because they HAVE to list it as an ingredient. So I looked it up. Turns out that ice cream manufacturers are not required by law to list the additives used in the manufacturing of their product. I found this out from the PPNF Health Journal. They have a website too. Check it out here. And in case you were wondering, the cheap additive they use in place of vanilla is piperonal. Do you know what that is?!?! Well, let me tell you what it is NORMALLY used for. It's used to kill lice. YUM!

The Incredible Edible Egg!

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:" -Tim 4:1-3 When I first went to Dr. Shurtleff he ran some tests and one of my problems was the individual cell strength. It was extremely weak and although they still aren't as strong as they should be, the increase from my first visit to my second was huge. My doctor was surprised at how fast, and greatly they improved. Since my first visit I've been eating eggs that I get from this old lady on Val Vista and University. I eat 3-4 eggs a day. This morning I was reading up on eggs and I learned that they strengthen cell membranes, (no wonder I got stronger faster) and also they actually LOWER cholestoral!!! The cholesterol in the eggs is balanced with sufficient lecithin to keep the cholesterol circulating in the blood and prevent it from depositing in the arteries. Whole foods create a natural balance. I ALSO learned that powdered eggs, egg beaters, powdered milk, powedered butter, any thing with cholesterol that is powdered can raise your cholesterol. It's called oxidized cholesterol. It reacts with oxygen when it is dried. This "oxidized" cholesterol can cause blood vessel damage. (PPNF Health Journal-Edward Blonz) Egg Beaters isn't powdered but in a rat test with eggs and egg beaters, the rats thrived on eggs and died on egg beaters. (An Anthropological/Nutritional Evaluation-H. Leon Abrams) Well, I found it interesting and if any of my readers did too, just remember, your eggs should have 3 visible parts to it. Egg white, Egg Yolk, Egg membrane. If you can't see all three, and if the egg yolk isn't a DARK yellow. Probably shouldn't eat it....

Au Natural

Ever since Heather converted me to WAPF,

I've decided never to take antibiotics again.

Ever.

(Unless of course my life depended on it, which isn't likely)

Well, it finally happened. I got the croup this week. At least I think.

I didn't go to a doctor.

What do they know anyway?

Whether I have croup, strep throat, tonsillitis....

the verdict is always the same.

Antibiotics.

So what do you do when your throat is swollen,

you can't swallow, and you refuse to take antibiotics?

Seriously.

What do you do!

I must admit I was a little panicked.

So I read up on what vitamins I need to help fight this

and I found I needed vitamin A, C, E and carotene.

Since I refuse to take supplements as well....

What the heck does that mean?!?

So thanks to NT I figured out what foods have those things in them,

and I am happy to say that had I taken antibiotics

I would have still been recovering and

taking those cursed pills for at least a week.

Natural Healing?

Yeah, I'm a fan. How long was I sick?

Oh, just 3 days.

And that includes recovery!

Carrot & Cream tonic anyone?
